Welfare state. "RSI allowed us to breathe again"
The Reportage was carried out in the curricular unit 'Projeto e Portfolio em Journalismo' during the second semester of my last year of degree. This project went through several stages: planning and study Social Economics, interviews, creation of infographics, multimedia editing and writing of the reportage. My colleagues and I wrote the texts, edited the photos and videos and created the infographics. At the same time, we managed social media in order to show our advances to our audience.

The reportage shows some portraits of the State beneficiaries support: a 54-year-old woman with an undiagnosed illness who receives RSI, a 39-year-old woman who came to Portugal after her husband's dream and receives RSI and a 84-year-old woman with a very low pension who receives the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly.

Welfare state. "RSI allowed us to breathe again"
Almost 20% of the population in Portugal lives at risk of poverty. The most affected group is women. Sara Matos, Olinda Couto and Lídia Alves belong to three different generations, but they have something in common: it is the welfare state that allows them to survive.
